Cooke City on Fire 1988

The Yellowstone Fire ran out of control between Silver Gate and Cooke City. On this morning the winds shifted in Cooke City's favor, and a back fire was created on the hills above town in an effort to save Cooke. Residents watched, held their breath and prepared to evacuate. Darrell Crabb, Owner of the Soda Butte Lodge (aka Four Seasons and Watuck) stood on the steps at the Lodge and filmed the backfires while tending to the needs of guests and firefighters.
