The 3 amigos from Pennsylvania hunted with Ron Hilkey of Adams Lodge in 1997 and had the time of our lives. Two 5x5 bulls out of three. Will be back in 1998 to hunt with the Hilkey's again.

A visit to Meeker is therapy to my family. It's like stepping back in time to the 50's, when you could walk down the street and visit with strangers, forget to lock your house, and leave your bike where you want without fear of it being stolen. Meeker is rural America at it's finest!

While cruising on the web, I was surprised to see Meeker had a home page. As a 1994 graduate, I know how "behind-the-times" Meeker can be, though I miss the beauty of the mountains (especially since I've lived in Nebraska for so long) GO HUSKERS!!!!!!! Anyway, I'd like to say hi to the Class of '94, and if anyone sees my mom and dad tell them I said hello.

I lived in Meeker from 1978-1983. Still follow the local sports teams. Congrats to the 1996 and 1995 football teams that showed so well in the playoffs. Saw the game against Faith Christian in 1996. Great game. Haven't been to Meeker in a while, but Meeker seems to stay in the news. Kip Bunner (Columbus, OH) called and said he heard about the Tate situation on the local news. If anyone who reads this knows Dan Ryan, let him know that I recently found a Steno notebook diary kept by his dad. I have no idea how I came to possess this book, but I do have it. Hopefully I'll get a call for my 20th reunion. Didn't hear from anyone in 1989.

Elly and I are spending time surfing the net and we are pleased about Meeker being so well represented on the net. The fires are out and the smoke has gone. The monsoon rains are falling and the jungle is green. Elly really enjoys the Rumbai Sharks swim team and is wearing her Meeker Makos suit. She is looking forward to joinging the Meeker team in June. Hanna is back in School in Singapore.

Great home page! I can tell by viewing all the comments that folks are real pleased with Meeker and long to return! I am with a group of six from Texas who are planning a trip to the Meeker area next October to hunt. If anyone could give me some tips on good hunting areas, good restaurants, etc., I would appreciate it. I have never been to Colorado and am really looking forward to it. One member of our group hunted there years ago with his dad, and is really wanting to return. He hunted the area west of Rio Blanco, on Piceance Creek. We are interested in hunting this particlar area or another in the area that might be better. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

It was neat to read the other Guestbook entries and recognize so many of the names. I laughed out loud when I read the one about Uncle Earl Eliasen on the Forth of July. After living in Meeker from '71 to '82 (and many visits thereafter) I can honestly say that I (along with most of the other 16 Eliasen siblings) have been there, done that and plumb wore out the t-shirt. Those were the times of my life. Thanks for putting the page up. It looks great.

This was the best suprise I've ever pulled up on a search, I used to live in Meeker, and worked at Pioneers Hospital in 1991. Sadly enough, I had to return to Salt Lake. I miss Sleepy Cat, and North Fork. Every chance I get, even if it is a wild hair, I take a roadtrip to Meeker, just to settle my nerves. I miss all the friends I made while there. Many of them, have also since moved, Meeker is the best little town I have hever had the chance to experience. Sure wish I had the chance to move back. I'd do it in a heartbeat. But until then, I'll just be "HOMESICK!"

Recently my mother passed away at the age of 47. We had family in town for the funeral, and my grandmother told me a very interesting story. I had a famous person in my family, my great grandfather (or maybe it was great greatgrandfather) was the founder of a small town in Colorado named Meeker. She said to prove it, there is a plauqe there with our family names on it, including hers. Now i really dont know if its true, ive never been there. Im not sure what her maiden name was, but her married name is Lillian Derbin. Is there any Lillians on this plauqe?

Meeker to me is, and always will be, a community where the concept of "your story" has profound and deep meaning. Whether it was a story you knew,...or a story to tell,....or a story that you could sit for hours and listen to with rapt attention and patience, Meeker was...and probably always will be....a place not only for the eyes...but most definately...for the ears and the minds eye. I lived in Meeker, off and on...all my early life and graduated from Meeker High in 1972 My fathers family grew up there and I still have extended family who live there. Long since having left Meeker..and now having live all over America....I still consider it my moral center. Every thing I do....every person I meet, I still reflect on how I would have reacted to that person having lived in Meeker. And to this day I thank you for that. I still, to this day, miss the grandure of the stars, the sense of wonder in the mountains, the beauty of the desert, days of utter peace of floating down the White River on an inner tube. I miss the idea of neighbors..and all that that meant. But most of all....I miss the stories. Hardly a day goes by that I do not reflect in some small way on how such a small town had such a big impact on my life. I am also reminded at the thought, albeit perhaps in my own mind, that I, and many of my childhood friends, no longer feel that we could walk the streets of Meeker and feel like we had returned home. Such are the times that Meeker, and America, still lives in. For some of us can never go...and in the end it never really was....home.

Just found your great web-site. I have put together a fall tour for our adult education group. We will be visiting Milk Creek, Meeker and Trappers Lake on Sept. 28. Your information on the museum was helpful. We will have Mark Miller, the Wyoming State Archelogist with us that has just completed a book about Thrornburgh's march from Fort Steele to Milk Creek. He will be providing some historical information.

In 1975 my father took me hunting for the first time in your nearby Piceance Creek. I was ten years old and about as excited as I will ever likely be. It was cold and snowy that year. As I recall, it was late October and the temperature dropped to -10 F at night. Some will probably remember. Since we were living in California then, we came up through Rifle. Our relatives who met us came from another direction and often stayed in Meeker. I can remember them describing the Meeker Hotel. Boy did I wish to visit that lobby. I finally visited Meeker for the first time in 1991. I love that Motel. You have a charming town. In only a few weeks, I will be spending a few special days wandering the gentle hills of Piceance Creek again.

This is wonderful to see a web site on Meeker. I was the first child born in the Pioneer Hospital. Mother tells me she did not like the doctor very well and he soon mooved to Denver. My Father was the county agent in Rio Blanko County in the early 50's. We moved to California in about 1955. My Father returned for the next thrity years to hunt deer and elk. I think it was up Strawberry. I would love to hear from you. Thank you.

I really enjoyed the people and hunting. Glen Papez, local guide in Meeker, put us on a great elk hunt in the first season of 1995. I harvested my first elk and mule deer. The community and people put on the works for out-of-state hunters and fishermen. You need to continue to advertise and promote the hunting, fishing and off season White river valley sight seeing. Again, thanks for the great hospitality.

Mike, my wife and I visited with you when you were at the Chamber of Commerce and we were going upriver to stay at Adam's Lodge. We had such a wonderful time that we WILL be back again this summer! Thanks for the web site!

I have enjoyed visiting the Meeker pages you have created. My partners and I hunt in the Flattops area each fall. Keep up the good work!
