John and Zona Curl arrived in Cooke
City Montana in 1883. John immediately engaged in the mining
business. As cooke City needs increased he became involved in
the Hotel business and for many years conducted the only eating
house in Cooke City. In 1898 their first child, Mary
Margaret was born. In 1902 their son Thomas was born.
John and Zona lived in Cooke City for many
years and John was a guiding force in Park County politics. Mary
Margaret mentions that her father and Horn
Miller were partners in the mining endeavors.
John F. Curl was born in 1853: died October
1, 1924, Daughter Mary Margaret Died on February 19,1959. Son
Thomas Died in 1961.
