Green, Neva M.
LEWISTOWN - Neva M. Green, 91, of Lewistown, died Monday
evening, Dec. 25, 2006, of natural causes, in the Central Montana
Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Pensolsa, Kan., the daughter of
LeRoy and Addie (Evans) Orr. The family moved to Arrow Creek,
Mont., when she was very young. She received her schooling in
Arrow Creek, graduating from high school there. She was united
in marriage to John Green of Coffee Creek on Oct. 3, 1936, in
Great Falls. They farmed in the Belfry area for many years, where
they raised their three children: Carol, Jim and Arlee. Neva
stayed very involved in her art, teaching classes in their shop.
They moved from Belfry and purchased the Shaw Lodge and Cabins
in Cooke City, operating them in the summer months and working
in Palm Springs, Calif., in the winter months. They later sold
the Shaw Lodge and then operated the concessions at Red Lodge
Mountain during the ski season. After a few years, they returned
to Belfry and built and operated the Country Corner Café
and Gas Station. They retired and moved to Lewistown in 1973.
They spent many winters in Palm Springs.
Neva is survived by two sons, Jim Green of Hilger, Arlee of Bozeman;
one daughter, Carol Royce of Hilger; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999; her parents
and one brother, Maynard.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, in the
First Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place; inurnment
will be in the Central Montana Memorial Gardens. The Cloyd Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends are asked to make memorials the Lewistown Art Center,
the Central Montana Foundation or the charity of their choice
and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
