Hunting
Outfitter Reg # 1159
Adams Lodge offers
guided hunts from the Lodge and unguided drop camp hunts. We hunt
primarily for Elk in the White River National Forest in game management
unit #24. Bull elk tags may be purchased over the counter for
the combined rifle seasons. Antlerless elk licenses for the regular
rifle season, archery and muzzleloading seasons are draw only.
The applications are usually available in March, the deadline
to apply usually the first of April, and you will know if you
are successful by June. Area 24 has a four point or better regulation
which means that the spike bulls are not harvested and there are
more mature bulls than before.
Guided hunts are
the most successful. We conduct our guided hunts from the ranch
where you will be lodged in comfortable and modern log cabins.
Each morning you will have a hearty country style breakfast in
the dining room, the guides will have your horses saddled and
ready to leave the corral before daylight. You will ride for up
to an hour and a half, when you will be placed on a stand where
elk are likely to be seen until after after daylight. Later, throughout
the day, the guides will make drives through the dark timber in
an attempt to push the elk into the open where you will get a
shot. They make several drives each day and work very hard. Lunch
is packed and sent on the hunt with you. A warm dinner will be
waiting for you in the dining room on your return in the evening.
After dinner you may retire to your cabin for a shower and sleep
in a comfortable bed so you will be ready for the next day's hunt.

Drop camps are unguided, we furnish the camp
and you provide your own food and dishes, do your own cooking
and hunt on your own. We will provide the horses and packer/guide
to pack you and your gear into a camp that is set up and ready
when you arrive. The camp will have a wall tent, wood heating
stove, some cut firewood, propane cook top, propane, lanterns,
cots with foam pads, water source, latrine and camp table and
stools. You will be provided with a two way radio so you can contact
the lodge when you have game to be packed out, for the latest
weather report or if you have an emergency. We will pack your
game out for no additional charge. Overnight lodging in one of
our cabins and breakfast before your pack in is included.
